Late Spring Garden

I meant to post more photos from the garden from earlier this spring, but between cooking, gardening, mothering, and everything else under the sun (or clouds and rain), I just never got around to it. So you’ll have to believe me when I say the lilacs, tulips, daffodils, columbines, clematis, and giant peonies were stunning this year. And the asparagus patch was epically abundant. But alas, I do not have any photos of them. I was too busy enjoying them. Next year, I promise I will photograph those beauties! Today, I wanted to share a little glimpse into what’s growing in the garden right now, at the beginning of June. I swear, things change so quickly in the garden. Every day I go outside, I am blown away by more beauty. And more weeds. I plan to continue to update throughout the season as things grow and change. The garden brings me so much peace and joy and I hope these images can give you a bit go that today, as well.

Purple-podded shelling peas, green-podded shelling peas, and snap peas. And a peak of the dill, chamomile, parsley, marjoram, and cilantro, plus a couple of baby sunflowers in the mix.

The layers of colors and textures as you walk up the steps to the house from the existing trees, plus all of my plants in pots. I’ve got a David Austin rose that I planted in honor of my mother, a Passionflower vine, and all types of petunias and black-eyed Susans in various sized pots on the deck.

More foliage color and texture. I just love the shades of green on the Azaleas and Japanese maple tree.

The roses that envelop the kitchen window, plus the hanging planter I planted on Mother’s Day that’s filling in nicely.

The enormous rose bush that towers above the raspberry patch, which is currently buzzing with bumblebees. The blooms smell like peaches and they make me swoon.
